With 2013 soon coming to a close, The Huffington Post compiled a list of food related events in 2013 that were viewed as controversial screw-ups. The list includes topics from food safety issues to popular chefs. Topping the list is the decline of Paula Deen's food empire in response to her racist comments and additionally the way she handled the fallout of these allegations and discoveries. The list also includes the horse meat scandal in Europe earlier this year, the defeat of GMO labeling bills, Chipotle's commercial that showcases the negative aspects of industrial food production, as well as a few others.
